Creature Creator is a modeler plugin, which make the creations of characters
like humanoids, aliens, monsters, bugs
etc. very easy. It allows you to make
new unique characters in a matter of minutes. It ships
with a library of body parts for photorealistic characters,
cartoon characters, fantasy and scifi characters.
Upon
initial opening of CCPro, you will see a small box
toward the bottom of the screen that looks like this.
By selecting the random creatue botton CCPro will vary
objects and automatically create a creature for you.
I note of interest, before you do this, you may want
to have your "Symmetry" on. This allows for
body parts to remain consistent with the left versus
right. Though you have the capability to mix-match
each part, I found that in most cases your legs, arms,
etc. are going to be the same on the left and the right
sides. Symmetry "on" will allow the program
to ensure the parts on the left and right remain the
same. This is especially important as you begin to
manipulate your creature.
One of the hardest things for any 3D artist / modeler is creating your
own characters. Creature Creator Pro provides you this capability that
you will not find anywhere else. Rapidly create different creatures in
remarkable time and with little effort. One of the things that you will
love about Creature Creator Pro is the fact that it comes with 456 different
parts. By going to the "edit parts" tab, you have the capability
to mix match 456 different styles of parts that range from realistic,
to fantasy and sci-fi. There isn't anything they haven't covered that
you as an artist wouldn't need to create an excellent creature. I have
included numbers in red indicate how many props are located under each
drop down menu.
By selecting the "Preferences" tab, you can select where CCPro
will look for your objects and projects. This is one of the most important
aspects for the program and it is very important that these settings are
correct. Otherwise you will receive errors upon attempting to create your
model.
Also under this tab you can edit the background and wireframe color for
easier display.
And finally, you can also select the mouse swapping options for those whose
preferences are different than traditional selecting styles.
By selecting individual part objects under the "edit parts" tab,
you can manipulate your model even further from the preset objects. This
allows for further enhancement and creating unique characters.
Selecting the appropriate sliders for the X,Y and taper modules...CC Pro
manipulates the model in real-time. This means that as you slide left or
right, the model is changed as you watch it move. This allows for more
accurate modeling and there is no question as to the outcome. The parameters
are changed by "none, positive and negative" attributes.
And now the export. Shown to the left of the main window under the "project" tab
is the export option. Here you have the choice of saving in obj (best for
poser), 3DS (all-around good format) and dxf. These three formats are the
most poplarly used in 3D software and importable to most. I think they
made a good choice with these three option. Simply by exporting, you can
now import your model into your favorite 3D program such as Strata,
Poser or Right
Hemisphere software for texturing, animation and finalizing your work.
